DC Fandome was a big event for many reasons: a new The Batman trailer, a Black Adam trailer, The Flash trailer, and more. But for us gamers it was the promise of seeing new footage of Gotham Knights and Rocksteady’s next game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
While many of us were expecting Rocksteady to follow up their Batman Arkham trilogy with another Batman title (or a Superman one for us hopeful few), they chose to continue delving into their Arkham setting, just with the Suicide Squad this time and Metropolis instead of Gotham. The game takes place sometime after Braniac has invaded Earth and brainwashed the members of the Justice League, including Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. With no heroes to call on, Amanda Waller sends in her gung-ho team of criminals, The Suicide Squad, to kill the Justice League.
Rocksteady unveiled new footage of the game at DC Fandome, 2021. But like Gotham Knights, it was just a cinematic story trailer, meaning that we’re still going to have to wait to see actual gameplay. The trailer is a showcase for the wacky personalities and hijinks that the Suicide Squad will get up to and seems, in tone at least, to be on the same wavelength as James Gunn’s recently released Suicide Squad movie.
Last gen owners beware, the game will only be releasing on PC, Xbox Series machines and PS5. No release date has yet been revealed.
