I’m sure we’ve all been at that point in an RPG where all we want to do is get out of a dungeon really quickly or find the nearest save point because it’s time to sleep, go to work or take a break. Not all RPG’s support quick travel functions of any sort though, whether it’s a quick warp to a dungeon entrance or to travel across the world, especially in older games.
The original Wii version of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword let Link travel to the great ocean of sky with his Loftwing at specific save points. Now for the remastered The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD release, Nintendo are releasing a Zelda and Loftwing amiibo for just that purpose.
The amiibo will allow Link to warp from wherever he is at the moment on the surface to the sky and his Loftwing. The amiibo will also work on cloud cities and will deposit Link back to the point he originally warped from. Additionally the function will also work within dungeons and inside buildings. It’s highly doubtful that this function will be patched into the game for standalone use, otherwise there would be no need for the amiibo to have been manufactured other than for collectors.
Another new addition to the remaster will be a button only control method for handheld play as the original game used the Wii’s motion controls. For those who prefer to play docked, the original Wii control method will remain intact.
