Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Swings Onto PS5 In October

E3 may not have happened this year, but the recent Summer Game Fest 2023 event took over the spotlight with some great reveals, not least of all being Insomniac finally letting the (spider)cat out of the bag for when their highly anticipated sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man (and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales) – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – will finally be coming out.

Fans can mark the day on their calendar because it’s around the proverbial corner, October 20th, 2023 to be exact.

As a PS5 exclusive – until the inevitable PC port – it will be built specifically from the ground up to make use of the current-gen console’s feature set and power and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be thwipping onto retail shelves and digital storefronts in just over four months. Insomniac promises enhanced visuals, 3D Audio, faster web-swinging, and “near-instant” character switching for an “Amazing” experience.

This time around, players will be able to don the tights of both Spider-Men as they swing around New York in an effort to save it from new threats. Both Miles and Peter will have missions specific to them but during the open-world segments, players will be able to switch nearly instantly between the two.

As we get closer to the release date, we can no doubt expect more details on the game and its story to emerge. Right now, we do know that certain fan favourites such as Kraven – who is here to hunt the most dangerous game – the Lizard and, of course, Venom, will be making an appearance. We also know that Insomniac will be adapting Spidey’s ever-popular symbiote storyline, and that Eddy Brock won’t be Venom in the sequel.

Along with the release date, three editions of the game – the Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s Edition – will be available to pre-order before the game releases on October 20th, 2023.
