If you still haven’t gotten enough of the Lovecraftian, cosmic horror vibe that has become prevalent in gaming these days, then you need to mark down May 11th 2022 on your calendar because more nightmarish entities from beyond the abyss are going to need you to kill them in Source of Madness.
Developed by Carry Castle, Source of Madness is a Lovecraftian-inspired, 2D platforming rogue-lite heavily inspired by cosmic horror, Metroidvanias and Soulslikes.
Set in the Loam Lands, you take on the role of an Acolyte searching into the world’s hidden secrets and the cosmic horror of the Tower of Madness, the moon’s mysterious Citadel. What sets Source of Madness apart from most of the other platformers in this vein, is the reliance on procedural generation and AI machine learning. The game’s monsters will be procedurally generated and animated using a neural network AI. So too will the game’s art style be created in conjunction with the AI.
The game boasts an in-depth skill tree for abilities, classes and spells along with close-quarters combat magic. And if you’re looking for loot, Source of Madness will have that too along with massive, maze-like environmental exploration.
If this sounds like it may be right up your alley, then keep your eyes peeled for its May 11th release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
Bring on the madness!
